This childhood cannot be recreated in the current suburban neighbors, because here, everyday is a block party.”
Roger Thiel, the most tenured resident of Gangplank, on his boat Doo Wop. “I feel a certain kin with even with astronauts because I live aboard a machine,” he says. “Another very important thing for here in Washington D.C., is that you leave your profession at the gate. It’s possible to live near a congressman or a member of the House of Representatives for a year without knowing it … whatever you do on the outside is rendered pretty level when you come into the marina.”
