I’m a photographer, art director, writer and video producer based in Washington, D.C. By day, I work as a visuals editor and video producer for NPR’s service journalism brand, Life Kit. Previously, I covered science and news for NPR as a video producer and wrote for National Geographic’s photography vertical, Proof, which won a Webby for Best Use of Photography in 2015.
Originally from East Tennessee, my family moved to the Netherlands when I was eight. A few trips to the Rijksmuseum and my love of art was cemented. After receiving a BA in Art History from Furman University in Greenville, SC, (where I also discovered the darkroom!), I moved to Santa Fe where I worked in an art gallery, Houston where I learned about community building through the arts, and finally to D.C., where I completed a master’s in New Media and Photojournalism at the Corcoran College of Art+Design.
My personal projects highlight D.C.’s waterways — liveaboard culture at a Washington marina, the history of the oldest Black boating club on the East Coast, and the return of American shad to the Potomac.
Drop me a line if you want to work together on something cool.
